Jim Rice

Kernell Borneo

Kernell Borneo is originally from Trinidad. He came to the United States to play collegiate soccer and received an athletic scholarship to Missouri Baptist University followed by another at WVU.

He has been involved in travel soccer for more than 12 years and also serves as the Director of Coaching for Pro Performance, Tri State Elite and Fury Soccer Club. He has coached four different teams that went on to win 11 State Championship titles. Most recently, his U16G Fury team, U17B Pro Performance Select team, and his U13B team were the 2016 State Champs. Kernell was also voted 2015 West Virginia boys Competitive Coach of the year. He is also a Staff Coach for the West Virginia ODP program.

From 2005 – 2007, he was the Coach for the University High School Boys Team. He was also the Assistant Coach to Mike Kelleher for the Super Y U20 Illusion Summer Girls team in 2008. The team was made up of collegiate players from schools and universities including WVU, Tennessee, Morehead State, Cincinnati, and WV Wesleyan.

Kernell has also worked numerous youth camps and clinics in many states throughout the country. He is the Director of all Pro Performance soccer camps and has coached both the Men’s and Women’s WVU soccer camps, MYSA soccer camps, and West Ham Soccer Camps in Pittsburgh and Morgantown. He has also had the opportunity to coach at the National West Ham Camp in Georgia alongside Tony Carr who is regarded as one of the best youth coaches in Europe. More recently (November 2015), he coached a Bayern Munich ID camp in Morgantown, WV. He continues to educate himself under US Youth Soccer, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA),  and other avenues. He holds a NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Youth Diploma, NSCAA Goalkeeping 1 and 2 Diploma, Coerver Coaching Youth Diploma, A National Youth License from USSF and a Certificate from West Ham United Premier Soccer club in London, England. He also visited Bayern Munich for a week-long observation and classroom sessions. While in Germany, he had the opportunity watch the academy and first team train and play games.

Kernell took his U14B Pro Performance Select team to England in 2013 to compete against Youth Academies in London and watched Premiership teams such as West Ham United, Fulham, Manchester United, and Chelsea play while he was there.

In August of 2016, he went to England as a Staff a coach with Sport 11’s youth teams and his players had the opportunity to play against Fullham, Reading FC, and Sheffield United.  The group also trained with the academy coaches at Fulham, Reading, Derby County and Crystal Palace.

 

 

Andy Altemus

Morgantown native Andy Altemus is the Director of Baseball/Softball at Pro Performance, having previously served as lead pitching instructor.  Altemus is a former professional pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization.  Andy enjoyed an outstanding college career that started at Potomac State College and ended at West Virginia University.

He was named WVU’s pitching MVP during the 2010 season, a campaign in which he set the all-time WVU record for appearances in a single season. Altemus is also a former standout and two time state champion in the Morgantown Post 2 American Legion program.  Andy graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Athletic Coaching Education in 2011. Andy will also be coaching the Pro Elite Redbirds Youth Baseball Program.

Ryan Leibreich

Ryan specializes in functional movement screening and performance enhancement. He has an extensive knowledge of sports medicine and strength & conditioning that he utilizes to help athletes achieve their goals and performance needs.

Prior to working at Pro Performance, Ryan worked at Elite Athletic Performance, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, as a sports performance coach. There he was responsible for a multitude of duties. His duties included: supervising and coaching athletes ages 8 through the master adult athlete, providing sports nutrition recommendations for performance and recovery, screening athletes for injury risks and faults, designing, implementing and adjusting over 200 individual programs for clients/athletes, and coordinating with physical therapists in rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletes. Previously, Ryan attended California University of Pennsylvania to earn his Masters of Science. He worked as an intern strength and conditioning coach for the football, baseball, and track and field teams. During that time, he was also a graduate assistant athletic trainer and strength coach at Penn State University, Fayette Branch, covering their athletic teams.

Ryan is very proud of the time he spent working with The Ignition Athletic Performance group. He traveled to China for three weeks as the professional basketball team’s athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach. The team’s trip to China was for a pre-Olympic challenge against the Chinese National Team. Upon returning to the states, a second 3 game series against Dominican Republic Olympic Team was played at Northern Kentucky University.
